Certifications
TOLES (Test of Legal English Skills) is the exam that meets the language needs of legal professionals (lawyers, judges, prosecutors, public notaries, in-house counsels, paralegals, law students) and provides them with international certification of their legal English knowledge.
SpeakOut is a certified TOLES examination centre as of 2013.
There are five exam sessions organized each year.
You have to register 30 days prior to the exam. The exam is organized at SpeakOut office in Bucharest and the papers are assessed in the UK.
TOLES FOUNDATION
The Foundation Course is a recommended starting point in legal English training for law students. More experienced lawyers may also take TOLES Foundation if they wish to start training in legal English.
TOLES HIGHER
The course builds on the language knowledge of practical legal English vocabulary acquired at Foundation course. The course aim is to enhance the ability of legal professionals to deal with more complex authentic legal documents and case studies while continuing to focus on function and structure accuracy. The course is also appropriate for general English teachers who wish to start teaching legal English.
TOLES ADVANCED
The course develops and improves practical language abilities for all activities that international lawyers perform in English. It focuses on accuracy and legal terminology as well as on the ability to research, assess, and solve real cases. It is also adequate to university graduates who wish to enroll on MA and PhD programmes abroad and need to improve and use with accuracy legal terminology in specific work and academic related topics.
